Archetype
The Seeker: light side, shadow side, and prompts
In Soul Arc, The Seeker is one of 12 archetypes: the person who is always searching for something deeper. Its light is curiosity that drives real growth. Its shadow is using the search itself as a way to avoid arriving anywhere.
Updated October 2026What is The Seeker?
The Seeker is the archetype for people who ask the questions others avoid and move on before the answer lands. If you have read widely, changed direction more than once, and feel most alive at the start of something, this is likely familiar.
The Seeker
You are always searching for something deeper
The Seeker is never satisfied with surface answers. You are driven by a hunger to understand yourself and the world at a deeper level. Your shadow work will take you further than most dare to go.
Light
- Insatiable curiosity that drives real growth.
- Deep philosophical thinking others rely on.
- Natural questioner who inspires transformation.
Shadow
- Uses seeking as avoidance.
- Dismisses what is right in front of you chasing what is next.
- Intellectualizes emotions instead of feeling them.
Prompt theme in the app: The Call
The name, the line under it, the description, and the six traits above are quoted from the app. Soul Arc's 12 archetypes are its own set. They are not Jung's list and not the popular list of 12. Some of the names also appear in other archetype systems with different meanings. The archetypes guide explains where the idea comes from.
What is The Seeker's light side?
The Seeker's gifts are real. Curiosity that will not settle for easy answers makes you the person others come to when they want to think properly. The app's three light traits all point at the same thing: a hunger to understand that pulls you, and the people around you, toward something truer.
What is The Seeker's shadow side?
The shadow side is the search as escape. Always seeking means never arriving. Presence starts to feel like stagnation, so the next question gets asked before the last one has done its work. Feelings get turned into ideas before they are felt. The prompts in The Call theme are written for this: what you keep almost doing, what you are postponing, and what you are staying busy with to avoid something that matters more.
How does The Seeker show up in Soul Arc?
- The quiz. 10 questions when you first open the app. Your answers are scored against 9 underlying patterns and matched to the closest of the 12 archetypes. It is a reflection tool, not a validated psychological test.
- Your prompts. The Seeker carries the The Call theme, described in the app as "Purpose, power & the unlived life". On the free plan, the first of your 3 daily prompts comes from it.
- Umbra. Your archetype and its description are given to Umbra, the AI companion, at the start of every session, so its questions are shaped by it.
- Mastery. An archetype counts as mastered after 5 of its prompts. After you finish all 15 planets, you can choose another archetype to explore.
Three prompts for The Seeker
From the The Call theme, quoted word for word from the app:
- What would you build or become if failure and judgment disappeared?
- What is the thing you keep almost doing, circling but never landing on?
- Who gave you permission to want the life you want? Why do you still need it?
The theme has 12 prompts in the app. Eight of them, with how to use them, are on the theme's page.
