Umbra is the AI companion inside Soul Arc. Umbra reads what you write and replies with short, direct questions. It does not give advice and it does not diagnose. The Umbra page explains how it works.

Yes. Umbra's replies are written by Claude Sonnet 4.6, an AI model made by Anthropic. Umbra is not a person and not a therapist.

On the free plan, a session is 5 messages and you get 1 session a day. On Pro, a session is 10 messages and you get 10 sessions a day.

A little. Umbra is given short summaries of your last 5 sessions when a new one starts. This is the same on the free plan and on Pro.

The app pins a card to the conversation with the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988) and the Crisis Text Line (text HOME to 741741). Umbra is not a crisis service. If you are in danger, call or text 988 in the US now.

Yes. Soul Arc is free to download and you can use it every day without paying. The free plan includes 1 conversation with Umbra a day (5 messages), 1 Deep Dive a day, and 3 journal prompts a day. The planet journey, daily quests, check-ins, and Shadow Flares are included.

Pro raises the daily limits to 10 Umbra sessions and 10 Deep Dives, with 10 messages each. It also opens all 144 prompts, Shadow Patterns, and the Soul Report, a PDF export of your journey.

Pro costs $7.99 a month or $49.99 a year in the US. There is no trial. Umbra is free up to the daily limit, and Pro raises it.

Subscriptions are billed by Apple. Cancel in your Apple ID settings under Subscriptions. Refunds follow Apple's refund policy. The support page has the steps.

Your journal is stored on your iPhone, not on our servers, and there is no account. When you talk to Umbra, your messages and short excerpts from recent entries are sent to Anthropic to write the reply. We do not sell your data, and Anthropic does not use it to train AI models. The privacy policy has the details.

Your messages in the session, the name you gave Umbra, your archetype and progress, short excerpts from your 3 most recent entries, your most frequent Shadow Flares, and summaries of your last 5 sessions. In a Deep Dive, it also sees the entry you chose. The Umbra page lists the exact limits.

Your messages and journal are not stored on our server. Umbra's reply is held for up to 30 minutes so a dropped connection can retry, then deleted. We keep a random device ID with daily usage counts, to enforce the daily limits.

Open Soul Arc, go to Settings, and tap Erase All Data. That removes everything stored on your device. To have the usage records on our server deleted, email help@soularc.app.

iPhone and iPad with iOS 17.6 or later. There is no Android app and no web version. The app is in English.

You answer 10 questions when you first open the app, and Soul Arc matches you to one of 12 archetypes. It is a reflection tool, not a psychological test. See the 12 archetypes.

A quick log for the moment something triggers you. You write what happened and set an intensity from 1 to 10.

They were written for the app. There are 144 prompts in 12 themes, plus 45 Soul Quests on the planet journey. You can read 40 of them on the prompts page.

Pro members can export their journey as a Soul Report, a PDF made on the device from the Profile tab. There is no cloud backup or sync, so deleting the app deletes your entries.
