Archetype
The Warrior: light side, shadow side, and prompts
In Soul Arc, The Warrior is one of 12 archetypes: the person whose strength is real, and so is its cost. Its light is courage and the ability to act when others freeze. Its shadow is strength used as a substitute for feeling anything.
Updated October 2026What is The Warrior?
The Warrior is the archetype for people who handle things. The one who stays calm in a crisis, holds the line, and protects what matters. If you cannot tell the difference between a boundary and a wall, and vulnerability feels like losing, this is likely familiar.
The Warrior
Your strength is real. So is the cost of it.
The Warrior meets every challenge with force and will. You have built a life through sheer determination. Your shadow work is discovering that true strength includes the courage to be vulnerable.
Light
- Unshakable determination and courage under fire.
- Ability to act decisively when others freeze.
- Natural capacity to protect what matters most.
Shadow
- Equates vulnerability with defeat.
- Cannot distinguish between a boundary and a wall.
- Uses strength as a substitute for emotional expression.
Prompt theme in the app: The Rage
The name, the line under it, the description, and the six traits above are quoted from the app. Soul Arc's 12 archetypes are its own set. They are not Jung's list and not the popular list of 12. Some of the names also appear in other archetype systems with different meanings. The archetypes guide explains where the idea comes from.
What is The Warrior's light side?
The app's light traits describe determination, courage under pressure, decisive action, and a natural drive to protect. In an emergency, you want a Warrior in the room.
What is The Warrior's shadow side?
The shadow is armor that never comes off. Vulnerability gets filed as defeat, every boundary hardens into a wall, and strength does the job emotions were supposed to do. The Rage theme prompts go underneath: what you are furious about and have never said, whose anger you grew up managing, and what emotion you have been calling weakness.
How does The Warrior show up in Soul Arc?
- The quiz. 10 questions when you first open the app. Your answers are scored against 9 underlying patterns and matched to the closest of the 12 archetypes. It is a reflection tool, not a validated psychological test.
- Your prompts. The Warrior carries the The Rage theme, described in the app as "Anger, injustice & boundaries". On the free plan, the first of your 3 daily prompts comes from it.
- Umbra. Your archetype and its description are given to Umbra, the AI companion, at the start of every session, so its questions are shaped by it.
- Mastery. An archetype counts as mastered after 5 of its prompts. After you finish all 15 planets, you can choose another archetype to explore.
Three prompts for The Warrior
From the The Rage theme, quoted word for word from the app:
- What are you furious about that you've never said to the person who needs to hear it?
- Whose anger did you grow up managing? How much of your life still revolves around it?
- What injustice have you called 'fine' because making it a big deal felt too dangerous?
The theme has 12 prompts in the app. Eight of them, with how to use them, are on the theme's page.
