Archetype
The Healer: light side, shadow side, and prompts
In Soul Arc, The Healer is one of 12 archetypes: the person made to repair things, starting with themselves. Its light is compassion and a gift for creating safety. Its shadow is caring for everyone else to avoid looking at your own unprocessed pain.
Updated October 2026What is The Healer?
The Healer is the archetype for people who are drawn toward other people's pain and know what to do with it. If you are the one who fixes, soothes, and makes things safe, and you cannot sit still when someone near you is hurting, this is likely familiar.
The Healer
You were made to heal. Starting with yourself.
The Healer has a natural gift for making others feel seen and safe. But healers often carry wounds they have never shown anyone. Your deepest work begins when you turn that gift inward.
Light
- Natural gift for creating safety and emotional repair.
- Deep compassion that extends to the most difficult people.
- Innate understanding of what healing truly requires.
Shadow
- Heals everyone else to avoid confronting your own unprocessed wounds.
- Uses caretaking to maintain control and feel indispensable.
- Cannot sit with someone's pain without trying to fix it, which denies them their own process and robs you of the intimacy of simply being present.
Prompt theme in the app: The Void
The name, the line under it, the description, and the six traits above are quoted from the app. Soul Arc's 12 archetypes are its own set. They are not Jung's list and not the popular list of 12. Some of the names also appear in other archetype systems with different meanings. The archetypes guide explains where the idea comes from.
What is The Healer's light side?
The app's light traits are a gift for creating safety and emotional repair, compassion that reaches even difficult people, and an instinct for what recovery actually needs. People feel safer around them, and they are right to.
What is The Healer's shadow side?
The shadow is the fix. Caring for everyone else becomes a way of never facing your own unprocessed wounds, and being indispensable becomes a form of control. The app names the hardest one plainly: being unable to sit with someone's pain without trying to fix it, which denies them their own process. The Void theme prompts are the ones this archetype carries: losses never fully sat with, the dream you stopped mentioning, and what you would have to stop staying busy with in order to feel what you have postponed.
How does The Healer show up in Soul Arc?
- The quiz. 10 questions when you first open the app. Your answers are scored against 9 underlying patterns and matched to the closest of the 12 archetypes. It is a reflection tool, not a validated psychological test.
- Your prompts. The Healer carries the The Void theme, described in the app as "Grief, loss & what was left behind". On the free plan, the first of your 3 daily prompts comes from it.
- Umbra. Your archetype and its description are given to Umbra, the AI companion, at the start of every session, so its questions are shaped by it.
- Mastery. An archetype counts as mastered after 5 of its prompts. After you finish all 15 planets, you can choose another archetype to explore.
Three prompts for The Healer
From the The Void theme, quoted word for word from the app:
- What loss have you never fully sat with because it felt like it would swallow you?
- What dream did you stop mentioning because wanting it started to hurt too much?
- Who are you grieving that you're not allowed to grieve because the bond was complicated?
The theme has 12 prompts in the app. Eight of them, with how to use them, are on the theme's page.

Not as Jung wrote it. It is Soul Arc's own archetype, inspired by Jung's idea of shared inner patterns. The definitions here are quoted from the app.
Does The Healer mean I can fix other people?
No. The archetype describes a tendency, and its shadow is precisely the urge to fix. Soul Arc is a journaling tool. It does not treat, heal, or diagnose anyone, and neither does your archetype.
